Disney has just announced their purchase of Lucasfilms and all of their properties, including Lucas Arts and Industrial Light and Magic, and not only that, they have also announced that Star Wars Episode VII is in production and is expected to be released as soon as 2015...
This is great, but some people may be put off by this new merger, but Disney is one of the biggest entertainment companies in existance, with almost 100 years of experience doing this stuff. If we compair this to Disney's recent merger with Marvel, it turned out incredibly benificial for both companies and Marvel movies produced after have been some of the best yet. They aren't going to "Disney up" Lucasfilms, just like they didn't with Marvel and we can expect that all future Lucasfilms productions, with backing by Disney are going to be some of the best in the franchise, just you wait.
Oh and this might sell it for some, George Lucas isn't directing the next Star Wars, he's only a creative consultant. I like Lucas, so this is a bit upsetting, but the guy is retired now, so what are you going to do.
Anyway that's all for now, and may the Force be with you!
